7 January 2022 - Symrise has announced plans to acquire Schaffelaarbos, a Dutch supplier of egg protein for pet food as well as egg shell calcium and functional yeasts. The company also caters to the young animal feed and aquaculture markets.
Employing 39 people, Schaffelaarbos has annual sales of around €25 million.
By combining the activities of ADF/IsoNova in the USA with the Schaffelaarbos' facility located in Barneveld, the Netherlands, Symrise will seek to complement its current capabilities. Schaffelaarbos also has a facility under construction in Turkey with a joint venture partner.
"The combination of our activities of ADF/IsoNova in the USA and the leading position of Schaffelaarbos in the EU will enable us to even better serve our customers with a global portfolio and a regional supply chain ... We will expand our product range in the area of high-quality protein from eggs, enhancing at the same time further our value proposition in Taste, Nutrition and Health," said Dr. Jean-Yves Parisot, President Flavor & Nutrition of Symrise AG.
Mathieu Woltring, CEO of Schaffelaarbos, added: "I am very enthusiastic about this transaction. Our two organisations both value the industrial proximity to our clients and share a common vision based on the valorisation of by-products."
The closing of the transaction is expected in this month.
