French animal nutrition firm STI Biotechnologie inaugurated on 8 December a 2,000 m² extension of its Maen Roch factory, a further step forward after its acquisition by IDENA group in 2020.

€2.3 million has been invested in the site, which produces probiotics, prebiotics and postbiotics in powder and liquid form. The objective is to triple the plant's production and storage capacity from 3,000 to 10,000 tonnes.

Founded in 2007, the company based near Fougères agglomeration in Brittany develops additives for animal nutrition based on two exclusive strains of lactobacilli.

STI Biotechnologie’s annual turnover for 2023 is €5 million, with a target of €8 million within 3 years. The company currently has a workforce of 10 people and plans to create 3 new positions in 2024 to strengthen its international presence.

“The investment was necessary to ensure that we could face up to our current growth and not slow down our development. The process had become limiting in terms of fermentation and cooling rooms. Part of the storage had been outsourced, so the extension enabled us to bring everything in-house and improve our productivity,” Renaud Domitile, Idena Group's President, explained to Feedinfo.
