Position: Technical Sales and Support
Emphasis: Ruminants and Forages

Business Group: Lallemand Animal Nutrition North America
Location: Western U.S.
Reports to: Manager of Technical Services
Starting date: Open 2021
Status Full Time
Normal work week: M – F / 50-60% overnight travel

Responsibilities associated with this position include but not limited to:

1. Provides technical sales support to Territory Business Managers to facilitate sales.

  • Ideal candidate should be able to present to audiences at the high end of the nutritional
    spectrum while also be effective in communicating to individuals at the farm gate
  • This person will be valuable team member working alongside the Territory Business
    Managers and Regional Sales Managers to achieve sales goals. Travel with Territory
    Business Managers to provide technical support with an emphasis on troubleshooting beef
    and or dairy performance while positioning Lallemand technologies as a solution. Flexibility
    and having an understanding the sales process is a plus.
  • Maintain relationships with key ruminant nutritionist’s and other industry professionals.
  • Work as part of a team to when product performance & complaints arise by clarifying
    customers concerns, determining the cause of the problem, selecting, and explaining the best
    solution to solve the problem.

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of forage and feed analysis and articulate
    recommendations from the lab results to a nutritionist, producer, or team member.

2. Product research support will also be a component of this position functioning to drive overall sales of products.

  • Work with Technical Manager to help prioritize and develop projects for research trials that will
    support the sales of products. Trials are designed to assist Lallemand in the positioning of
    their products within the marketplace with the purpose to answer questions that can help the
    customers bottom line with a Lallemand product.
  •  Provide support for the entire research process from protocol development to final research
    report.
  • Assist Territory Business Managers in conducting field demo projects that are designed to
    show the benefit of a product at the producer level.

3. Providing technical support to marketing in terms of assisting in the overall theme and technical accuracy of material.

  • Work with Product Brand Managers either to provide technical content for marketing materials
    and or to serve as a sounding board for an idea.
  • Assist in reviewing marketing materials for technical accuracy.
  • Provide expertise in their respective area that may be used to further support marketing
    campaigns through a variety of media platforms.
  • Expected to write technical reviews or trial summaries working in conjunction with marketing.

4. Expected to support internal training at Lallemand sales meetings that are designed to further enhance product knowledge both from a technical and sales perspective.

Required Qualifications:

  • Preferred Ph.D. degree in Beef or Dairy Cattle Nutrition, or DVM. Position will require a solid
    working knowledge of production agriculture with a focus on large animal ruminant nutrition
    with expertise in one of the above-mentioned disciplines.
  • Ideally the candidate will also have silage/forage management experience with emphasis in
    understanding how management practices impact forage quality and digestibility.
  • A solid working knowledge in computer software included in the Microsoft Business package
    is a must. Candidate will need to be fluid in development of power point presentations and
    excel spreadsheets. Additional knowledge in data analytics, Dairy Comp 305 & feed
    management software is preferred.
