Alltech announced that Scot Harold will assume commercial leadership as executive vice president, Feed & Premix, and Brian Gier will take on the role of vice president of sales for Hubbard Feeds. Harold joined Alltech in 2020 as the director of sales for Ridley Feed Ingredients, part of the Alltech feed division. Gier is joining Alltech from Purina Mills, where he served as vice president of sales.

Benchmark Genetics has announced that Dr Ross Houston has been promoted and will lead the technical genetics team, succeeding Dr Morten Rye as Director, Genetics and Innovation. As part of the role, Dr Houston will take primary responsibility for the internal breeding programs and product development while also retaining his leadership of R&D for the company. Meanwhile, Dr Morten Rye will take on a new senior role as Director, External Services and Global Strategies, expanding Benchmark Genetics’ provision of genetics services to the global aquaculture sector. Under this new leadership, the genetics team has been re-organised. It has new leadership positions for each of Benchmark´s five internal breeding programs within Atlantic salmon, Shrimp and tilapia and for the key technical support and R&D teams. This includes molecular genetics, reproductive technologies, and trait development.

The European Commission has decided to appoint Roser Domenech Amado as Director ‘One Health' in its Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE). This Commission department is responsible for EU policy to protect and promote public health and ensure food safety and sustainability and for monitoring the implementation of related laws. The date of effect of her appointment will be determined later.

Royal Agrifirm Group announced the appointment of Jolanda van Haarlem as its new Group Director Specialties and Global Strategy Director in April. Furthermore, she will oversee the EMEA team as Gudo klein Gebbink, the current Managing Director EMEA, has decided, to leave Agrifirm on good terms after working over five years in this role.

The US’s third largest poultry producer, Wayne-Sanderson Farms, has announced changes to its senior leadership team, including the retirements of Bryan Miller, senior vice president of quality assurance and food safety, and David Malfitano, chief human resources officer. In April, Miller was succeeded by Dr. Juan “Juanfra” DeVillena. Prior to joining the company in 2004, DeVillena had experience working in operations, quality assurance and food safety for another poultry integrator, as well as gaining experience in poultry research at the United States Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine and the University of Maryland’s Nutrition and Food Science Department. Meanwhile, Malfitano was succeeded by Pamela Roach, who has nearly two decades of experience with all but a few of those years dedicated to leading various human resources functions for Cargill.
