26 October 2021 - According to recently released estimates by France’s La Cooperative Agricole Nutrition Animale, French compound feed production decreased 0.7% in H1 2021.
Cattle feed production rose 3.6% during this period, while pig feed and poultry declined 2.4% and 2.9%, respectively. The poultry feed decline can be partly explained by the drop in duck, guineafowl and quail numbers; segments of the poultry industry that were more exposed to the COVID-19 crisis.
Looking at the full year 2021, La Cooperative Agricole Nutrition Animale expects production to remain stable at 20.800 million tonnes (20.824 million tonnes in 2020).
Cattle feed production is expected to grow 1.5% to 6.25 million tonnes, whereas pig feed is expected to drop 1.2% to 4.9 million tonnes and poultry feed by 1% to 8.5 million tonnes.
