2 June 2021 - US biofuels giant POET announced yesterday the acquisition of the bioethanol assets of Flint Hills Resources.
The purchase includes six bioprocessing facilities located in Iowa and Nebraska and two terminals in Texas and Georgia. POET will now operate 33 bioprocessing facilities across eight states.
According to information from Reuters, this will bring POET’s production of DDGS to 7 million tons per year.
In addition to DDGS, Flint Hills also sold NexPro, a high-protein feed ingredient made in a dry-mill bioethanol production process. It is understood that NexPro is made at the company’s Shell Rock, Iowa and Fairmont, Nebraska plants.
