Cargill Animal Nutrition & Health has expanded its Engerwitzdorf facility in Austria, increasing production capacity by 50% to 30,000 metric tons (mt)/year as demand grows for micronutrition products, said the company.

The expansion supports Cargill’s Micronutrition & Health Solutions business, formed in 2024 by integrating assets from Diamond V, Delacon and Provimi. The unit develops nutrition solutions, such as phytogenics, postbiotics, anti-mycotoxin agents, and enzymes, based on interactions between microelements and the animal microbiome.

Gilles Houdart, Global Head of the Micronutrition & Health Solutions business, commented: “This investment in our facility not only allows us to increase production capacity, but it allows us to work more safely, operate more efficiently and produce more sustainably.”

The facility, which opened in 2020 with two raw-material silos, now has eight after the addition of six more. Cargill said this expansion lifts annual output to up to 30,000 metric tons, which it estimates is enough to support the fortification of roughly 200 million metric tons of feed.

Cargill said the facility runs fully on renewable energy, with about 70% supplied by hydropower and the remainder by solar.
