20 July 2021 - Specialty chemicals and ingredients firm Azelis has announced the acquisition of France’s Quimdis, a distributor of ingredients to diverse sectors including nutraceuticals, flavors and fragrances, animal nutrition, and others.

Among the rationale for the transaction include what Azelis calls “synergistic opportunities in animal nutrition.” To quote Benoit Fritz, Managing Director of Azelis France, “Azelis will leverage Quimdis’ expertise to complement our lateral value chain with reliable and natural products like essential oils, amino acids, active ingredients, vitamins and minerals. We will further benefit from their strong presence across EMEA, expertise and product portfolio in attractive target market segments and geographies.”

According to a press release, Quimdis has sales of close to EUR 100 million, serving over 1,000 customers and around 400 suppliers.

Meanwhile, Azelis’s own animal nutrition activities date back over 25 years, starting in the UK as part of ICI Nutrition. The company is active in a variety of product categories for pig, poultry, and ruminants, including grain processing and preservation solutions, on-farm feed additives, and natural solutions and ingredients.
